Forgive Me Mother is a contemplative piece that seeks to raise the voices of the people of Northern Uganda. The film is at its heart an emotional testament of the young people of Uganda who have been forced to bear the burden of both victim and perpetrator in a conflict where over 30,000 children between the ages of 8-15 have been abducted by a rebel group calling themselves the Lords Resistance Army. Today it is believed that over 90% of the LRA still consist of abducted youth and now those who have returned from the bush wish to tell their story. Forgive Me Mother tells the tale of their struggle to re-integrate into their own communities, their pleas for forgiveness for the atrocities they committed and their own thoughts on their life in the jungle and the Lords Resistance Army. The perspective of people from the ground and how the international community sees and seeks to find a solution to this conflict is at a disconnect. This film will help cross those divides.
