Teen outcast Zack Lightman fades in and out of reality. He uses his favorite video game as a mean of escape from the real world-- until the game world spills into his own. Zack thinks he's hallucinating when he sees the ship from his favorite game fly by his school, but it is all too real when he uncovers the mystery of urban-arcade-legend PHAËTON and a secret military organization, the Earth Defense Alliance. Zack, a crack fighter pilot in the game world, joins the EDA as a high ranking officer. Zack struggles with not only adapting to the life of a soldier, but reconnecting with his estranged father and uncovering their alien foe's ulterior motives without the EDA's knowledge.
