Hidden in the caldera of sunken volcanoes, on a small island in the Ring of Fire, deep in the shark infested waters of the furthest reaches of the world, grows earth's only living gem. For the last 5000 years, men and women have given their lives seeking the perfect pearl. The power of the pearl transcends jewelry. It feeds communities, educates children, sustains villages, empowers women, and repairs the seas, but at any moment it could all be lost.
