An American Life (2013)

After being dumped by his girlfriend, a young man suddenly starts telling people that he's dying in an attempt to get her back. His condition becomes serious when he actually does start to become sick. His sister finds investors for his dream to become a chef but that plan may fall apart due to his self inflicted illness. His ex reveals that something will keep the two connected forever and he searches for the strength to live again.
