Identity - only a construct? Physical features for example are integral parts of the concept of identity - they influence which qualities and traits are attributed to a person or an entire culture. But what if a new social surrounding perceives you as blank as a white paper, with no visible features at all? As the little adventure unfolds, Aye Dee starts to scalp layers of cultural and personal identity, hoping to find out what connects us to ourselves and as human beings underneath. Bastian Michael is a psychology student and trained actor from Berlin, Germany. Aye Dee is the product of a film class at UC Berkeley and Bastian Michael's first short film. It won UC Berkeley's highest Award for creativity, the Eisner Prize.
