MAKE ME NORMAL explores recent controversies in the psychiatry field, the suspicious rise of diagnosed mental illness and our new "Disorder Culture"- all set against the release of new, divisive psychiatric guidelines via the "DSM-5" (or "Psychiatry Bible"). With 30% of Americans diagnosed with a mental disorder and 20% of us on psychiatric medications, the filmmaker travels the country visiting high profile psychiatrists, neuroscientists, pharmaceutical reps, Senate investigators, yoga researchers and patients with both good and bad experiences with psychiatric treatment, ultimately forcing us to ask ourselves "What is normal?" And what are the forces at work that seem to be making "normal" disappear?
