Over 1.5 billion people have no access to electricity - no refrigeration for food or medicines, no pumps for water, no computers.Some communities have tired of waiting for the opportunity to join the modern world and are now trying to build their own energy solutions. 'Power Struggle' profiles four of these communities: herdsmen in Inner Mongolia, a Sioux tribe in the Dakotas, a hospital off the grid in Western Africa, and a group of tidal power pioneers in New York City, during their intense and chaotic struggles to install their own independent power systems.
