In 2007 Kenya held elections for the second time since dictator Daniel Arap Moi was defeated by the National Rainbow Coalition in the elections of 2002. The elections resulted in widespread violence and chaos after the announced winner was accused of rigging the vote. For weeks Kenya was in turmoil, until international pressure forced the opposing parties to form a coalition government. We follow Norwegian-Kenyan Peter O. Ranginya running for a seat in Parliament. His goal is to win the election without handing out bribes, to fight corruption and promote democratic development. Strange as it may seem, he is planning his campaign in a Norwegian prison, serving time for embezzling the Norwegian government. The film follows the election, the hard work and Peters unstoppable optimism - from prison and all the way to the Kenyan Parliament.
