In April of 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by the actor John Wilkes Booth as he was attending a play at Ford's Theater in Washington City. What followed was the greatest period of national grief ever experienced before that day. The event itself as well as the hunt for the assassins and the great funeral procession would become the focal point of a nations attempt to heal itself following four years of civil war. A Sobbing of the Strong tells that story with the music, images and voices of the time. Hosted by a ensemble of storyteller it is a portal back to those incredible weeks in the spring of 1865.
