When Captain James Cook first sailed by the waters of Quandamooka Bay in 1770, the Quandamooka People have inhabited the island of Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island) and Moorumgumpi ( Moreton Island) for over 21,000 years. Some years later, Cook falsely claimed the eastern coast of the land to become known as Australia as terra nullius. Since colonization, the controversy of terra nullius has been the main conflict of aboriginal and non aboriginal people. 'Dreaming On: The Story of the Quandamooka People' recounts for the first time the personal stories, history and culture that has been passed on from generation to generation and bring us to the present struggles and successes of a strong aboriginal community off the coast of Southeast Queensland, Australia.
