Jillian Haslam travels to India to collect an international award given in the memory of the modern era's greatest saint, Mother Teresa. This is the ultimate accolade for Jillian, but one so richly deserved. Jillian does so much for the poor and needy who cannot escape destitution on the streets of Calcutta because she understands their plight better than anyone. This is where she grew up. Based on Jillian's memoir, The Tea Chest (working title) tells the true story of how an impoverished and abused child, born of British ancestry, refused to give in. How, despite the loss of several siblings, she pushed past all her fears to develop the grittiest of determination to help those less well off than her. That all began when, still only a child, she helped a new baby sister survive when her parents had already given up hope. Pulling no punches, the story portrays how a timid girl, barely existing in the rat-ridden slums, refused to accept the hand life had dealt her. How she used the lessons of her past to push herself to become an entrepreneur, an author, a motivational speaker, and most of all, a dedicated philanthropist who will stop at nothing to help those, from every generation, who need it most.
