Xieyu Canhua (1942)

Ha Si-kwun is a rich young businessman who has a car accident. Before he dies instructs his wife. Man Tak-lin, to take another and to rear their child. Mang-chiu. Tak-lin leads a solitary life but loneliness compels her to eventually live together with Law Bak-yuet, a cad, who forces Tak-lin to sell off the property and to work as a laundry lady. Not content with this. Bak-yuet wants the wife to become a prostitute. One-day Tak-lin catches her husband having an affair with another woman in a hotel. She kills him in a rage and imprisoned for 15 years. Meanwhile, Mang-chiu is forced to sleep in the streets. He is taken in by Madame Lee, a family friend of the Ha. Fourteen years later, Mang-chiu graduates from military academy and is sent to station at the border, Yak-lin is released from and meets Madame Lee by chance.She pleads for a re-union but Madame Lee refuses, thinking that Mang-chiu's career might be affected because of his mother. After constant pleading. Madame Lee relents . She allows Tak-lon to catch a glimpse of Mag-chiu on his wedding day. Mang chiu's effective crackdown on the bandits of the border areas causes uproars, The bandit remnants vow to kill Mang-chiu on his wedding day. Tak-lin catches the bullet meant for Mag-chiu thus the mother dies , with a smile on her face.
