In a country whose government does not recognize their religion, a group of Egyptian Baha'is tell their story of arbitrary arrests and violence, their legal battle for recognition, and their enduring faith in spite of it all. In Egypt, the government recognizes only three 'heavenly religions' - Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Where does that leave the country's 2,000 Baha'is? Dead on Paper follows the lives of Baha'is from very different backgrounds: one, a group of converts from a rural village in Upper Egypt, who fled to Cairo after confrontations with the security services; the other, a fourth-generation Baha'i, recently graduated from Alexandria University, who embarks on a journey to try to discover the truth of the religion he was born into.
