Chala is eleven years old, lives alone with his addict mother, and trains fighting dogs to earn a living. This environment of violence sometimes surfaces at school. Carmela is his sixth-grade teacher, and the boy has great respect for her. But when Carmela gets sick and is forced to leave the classroom for several months, a new teacher, unable to handle Chala's character, transfers him to a behavioral school. Upon her return, Carmela opposes this measure and other transformations that have taken place in her class. The relationship between the veteran teacher and the boy grows stronger, but this commitment will put both of their places in the school at risk.
