No Return on Perishables (2013)

This is a short story depicting a miraculous phenomenon: that desiring another's happiness can lead to happiness for oneself. Goro is a door- to- door life insurance salesperson who never seems to get ahead in the business. He has a secret crush on Megumi, how works at a local flower shop, and would rather knock himself out, than have the courage to knock on her door. One day he meets a mysterious pilgrim, Hideko, and is told of a spiritual sanctuary in a village rumored to flowing with mystic energy. Goro finds the village, and is given strength by the 'god of marriage'. He then decide to visit Megumi in high spirits, but an unpredictable ending is waiting for him...
