Five years on from forming his school skiffle group Liverpool tearaway John Lennon is still no nearer breaking through to the big time. But in Paul McCartney he has found a kindred spirit even more driven to succeed in the cut throat world of show business. In late '62 manager Brian Epstein has finally secured a record deal with EMI. The Beatles for a tantalising moment have their shot at fame and fortune.
