13 people between their late 60s and mid 80s: They have already experienced a lot in their lives. Each has their own hopes, wishes, conflicts and problems. What they have in common is the longing for closeness - for a loving, lovable partner and the somewhat unusual path they have chosen to escape their loneliness: speed dating. So they venture to an event where a man and a woman sit opposite each other and have only seven minutes to get to know each other and courageously open up to a stranger in ever new constellations. When a bell rings, the woman moves to the next table - for the next conversation and the next man, who is still a stranger and could become so much more. It is a constellation that requires courage and not everyone feels comfortable in this setting right away. Johann Schfer would like to go home straight away, but shortly before her death he had to promise his beloved wife that he would not stay alone for long. Kurt Mailand also sets off for the speed dating event, reluctantly, urged on by his friend and fellow lodger Volker Hartmann. The retired teacher Helge Lns, the Russian romantic Sergej Stern and the cheerful ex-museum guard Hartmut Gttsche - the senior of the group at 84 - complete the men's line-up. The fact that women are in the majority is due to Hilde Matysek: she is the mother of the organizer and wants to see what her son does for a living. All the other women have officially registered for the speed dating event, and for very different reasons. Clara Bayer is looking for a companion for a trip to Russia, the formerly well-off Edith Wielande is looking for a partner with significantly more money than she now has. The ex-publisher Martha Schneider is longing for touch, Christa Nausch for a man who is more vital in every respect than her husband. And while Leni Faupel recites her own poems, ex-career woman Maria Koppel prefers to keep her distance: she is unlikely to find a partner of her caliber at a speed dating event - or is she?
