Cada Gota Cuenta gives a dynamic insight to just how detrimental the contaminated water in Guatemala can be on its population and especially the health and well being of its aspiring students. The water quality in Guatemala specifically affected young student Laura who fell terribly sick and contracted hepatitis A due to consistent consumption of unsafe drinking water. Walter, Laura's school principal, was determined to find a solution to all of the cases of illnesses passing through the school due to the unsafe drinking water, after immense research the answer was more closer to home than Walter could have ever imagined. EcoFiltro's groundbreaking technology, natural Guatemalan materials and tight knit Guatemalan labor helped foster a successful way to purify contaminated water in Guatemala. EcoFiltro through their water for life program they were adamant that they could reach 1 million rural families by 2020 providing them with the filtering technology to finally have safe drinking water. Laura, through EcoFiltro's school-donation program, safely returned to school to be educated about the importance of safe drinking water and finally have access to a filter that purified water for her so she could attend school and have the opportunities that every child with clean water has. EcoFiltro has not only has changed the life of Laura and her school but is changing the lives of all Guatemalan's alike, and Laura's simple but powerful message of "gracias" resonates through all Guatemala and inspires EcoFiltro to continue to provide children with the clean water across the globe that will change their lives for the better.
