Suraj is a young boy who comes from a marginalised community of pit diggers...the only one who has an urge to study. Disha is a new teacher in his school. She is Suraj's only hope to get out of a life that is literally in the pits. With an ignorant father it is not an easy task for him. Disha too has to face harassment from the village chief. While Suraj is a victim of class and caste discrimination, the living conditions of his community pull him into a vicious circle which does not offer him an optimistic road to education and progress. The film has been made using actual locations and depicts real life situations, giving us an experience more devastating than fiction. The challenge of portraying misery without glorifying it makes this film stand out.
