Fortune Sticks

25yo Ling ling finds an antique set of fortune sticks with the inscription "To Each Person Seven Questions". She examines all the sticks to see that they are all blank. Shaking them she asks "What is my favorite color. She flips the stick that falls out to see it reads "Rose". She examines the rest of the sticks once more and they are all still blank. She puts the stick back in and shakes one more time "Who will win the basketball game tonight and what will be the score?" Two sticks fall out one says "Dragons" the next says "87-72". Ling ling is freaked out and puts the sticks back where she found them. That night she watches the Basketball game and see the Dragons win by the score of 87-72. The next day she returns to the place she found the sticks. She says to herself "ok I have 5 questions left" (She does not she has 4, Winner and score on separate sticks) "Wait what happens if I go over 7 questions?" She shakes the sticks again and one falls out. It reads "Death". Ling ling is really freaked out now. "Wait wait I'm just trying to figure out the rules did that count?" She shakes again. The sticks reply "They all count" . Ling ling is frustrated now "Damn it. I just wasted 2 questions, Alright focus now what's important?" We she her counting on her fingers (the astute observer will notice she counts to 5) . After some thought Ling Ling decides that if she has financial security and love she will be happy. She decides to think about it before asking any more questions. That night she polls her friends on what question about the future they would ask if they could ask any question. She does not tell them about the magic sticks. The following morning she goes the sticks. and asks first "What will the winning numbers for tomorrows Welfare Lotto be?" She shakes the sticks and a stick falls to the ground with "6,10,14,23,31 2,8" written on it. Ling Ling writes the numbers down. She then asks: "who will be the love of my life?" and shakes the sticks. The name "Mao Fudong" appears on fallen stick. Ling ling has used her 7 Questions but it is an open question does she know it, or does she think she has one more? She wraps the sticks and the canister up and places it in the hidden spot. When next we see Ling Ling she is an elderly woman she removes the game once more from it's hiding spot. She brings the wrapped game to a graveyard. Where we see a tombstone with the name "Mao Fudong" She's laid out pictures of their happy life together; cutting ribbon on a school they funded, on a sail boat with their 2 children, on their wedding day, and others. She lays the game down and unwraps it. She takes a moment to reflect on the photos before asking a final question "Will I see my love again?" She shakes the sticks and picks up the stick that falls. With a faint smile she reads it. (unseen by audience) The stick falls to the ground as Ling Ling slumps over and falls to the grass.
