The 6th Kiss (2018)

After three years of developing a episodic series that aired annually for five weeks at the Rio Theatre, Kitsilano Secondary School students took on their first feature film. Students and staff wrote and directed the production and 100% of the film was edited, filmed, and performed by students. This was also the first time Kitsilano Theatre Company worked with professional artists and their record labels (Sony and Time Warner) to obtain the legal rights to songs to be used in their production. This is a project that is a reflection of what high school students can achieve if they are given the proper financial, technical and moral support to run a professional production. Students held auditions, created storyboards, ran sets mirroring union standards, filmed on multiple cameras (Sony FS700, Odyssey 7Q+, Red Scarlet-X) and audio devices (H6n Zoom) to obtain footage that they could then edit, colour correct and modify the audio (including ADR sessions) before holding focus group screenings to prepare for their festival submissions.
