A recently divorced English banker learns he has a terminal illness and decides to spend his last days living the low life in Paris. Shortly after arriving, he disarms a mugger who tries to rob him at gunpoint. Realising that the mugger's life is in his hands and twisted by the injustice of his illness, he debates whether to kill him. After all, what has he got to lose? If caught, he won't live long enough to stand trial. There are nine bullets left in the magazine. Seems a pity to waste them.
