Short documentary made at a time when making a non-moralizing portrait of a drug addict was still something very new. The careful film style, the timeless black and white and the genuine interest of the film makers turn this film into more than a beautiful historic document; it has grown old with dignity and still has something to say for itself. The film follows Gaby Derkinderen, a 24-year-old who is primarily involved with his addiction, even though he could probably do a lot more. But the question no longer needs to be posed more than 30 years later. The protagonist died before the film premiered.
