"Iron Chain Last Hope" is a riveting story of an African orphan's immersion into a US culture of racial divide. In Sierra Leone, Tamara's father abandoned her and her disabled mother. Then, at age 6, her mother died, and the villagers also abandoned her, believing she was cursed. Tamara almost died of neglect and malnutrition. But she was adopted by white missionaries and transported to the USA with her new white family. Tamara then faced the challenge of trying to figure out where she belonged in a culture where neither white kids or black kids accepted her.
