Buitenkant (The Outside) (2016)

A homeless woman discovers an abandoned set of keys and finds her way into the apartment that it belongs to - that of a successful young woman who isn't currently at home. Her first instinct is to steal whatever she can, but then she decides to take her time and make the most of this rare opportunity to be away from the chaos of the streets. Her experience turns into a complex reflection on how humans are shaped by their circumstances, and how Cape Town's legacy of spatial segregation continues to play itself out today.
