Barbarians (2019)

China's sports landscape has long been dominated by sports like ping pong, gymnastics, and basketball. However, the Beijing Barbarians is a brand new team made up of a disparate group of Chinese players and foreign expatriates trying to bring American-style football to China. When the American college Drake University decides to travel to China for a friendly game, members of the Barbarians join players from Shanghai and other cities around China to play in the Global Ambassador Bowl, the first-ever football game between China and an NCAA Division 1 team. Facing the best competition of their lives, the Chinese All-Star team must fight through adversity on and off the field, and in a country where the one-child policy means that most of the players have no siblings, they learn the meaning of brotherhood through football.
