Thantos (2017)

This is the story of Insaf Abu Sharab, a Bedouin Lawyer and social activist from southern Israel, fights polygamy and defies rigid social and religious codes. Insaf Abu Sharab, 36, was raised in a typical Bedouin home in an unrecognized village in southern Israel, when she went to study in a city some 200 kilometers away, her community thought she was suffering from a disease and undergoing treatment. And when she returned to the village she found herself socially ostracized. But this did not deter her from going to work as an attorney in an organization that was concerned with the rights of Bedouin women and to deal with everything related to polygamy. Her struggle against polygamy and her war against the rights of Bedouin women has created many enemies, especially from the male side, who does not approve of engaging in religious matters or an ancient tradition. In the course of a week, the film follows Insaf and reveals her personal and personal life, as well as her extensive activity for the Bedouin women in the Negev, and especially her struggle against the phenomenon of polygamy, which is considered widespread among the Bedouin population in southern Israel. Insaf's struggle is first of all a struggle against the patriarchal establishment, but also a change in rigid social concepts and codes that makes her live with her family, husband and three children in a Jewish village and as far away from her real surroundings as possible because of threats to her life. Insaf's insistence leads her to extreme situations that begin at her parents' home, and also socially and despite her Bedouin women support, she always finds herself alone in the battle.
