Bruno (9) needs virtual escapes to survive among domineering mother Linda and brat sister Frankie. The both made devoted father Chiel book a holiday in Sweden, and poor Bruno is dragged along, even wrecking his sole joy: the interactive game Taiki, as mother viciously pulls the power plug, sabotaging his cyber-friends as well. So Bruno duly sulks in the car, and when the adults get lost volunteers to navigate only to make sure they get lost completely, out of cellphone reach. The constant bickering between the kids on the backseat annoys Chiel, so after exhausting his patience he makes his point by putting Bruno, who keeps wining against the whole holiday, outside. By the time he returns to pick the boy up, he had hidden in the forest, where he soon gets spooked by wildlife, notably a moose, and gets lost. An initially even scarier wolf ends up acting as his foster akela, whom he calls Taiki after the video-game hero, but gets wounded at a front paw. Chiel planned to get help in the nearest village, but Linda tells a fake story, which causes the search to go pear-shaped, time lost and the locals turned against them. Desperate Chiel searches on alone, and obliges when Bruno insists to find Taiki, who turns out not feral at all but gets adopted.
