Twenty-year-old Ellie Johnson dreams of escaping her life in regional NSW. One night, a handsome traveller, Johann, and his brother Wolfe, pass through the town en route to Northern Queensland. Seeing this as an opportunity to escape, Ellie runs away with them to an idyllic property owned by celebrated local painter, Cheryl Cover. After some backpacking fun in this tropical utopia, things slowly begin to unravel. Johann & Wolfe don't appear to be the fun-loving Europeans they initially portrayed. Ellie attempts to contact her father keep being met with seemingly innocent obstacles. When Ellie wakes up in a darkened room under the house, her suspicions are confirmed - Cheryl is a sadistic murderer who uses the brothers to lure backpackers to her commune to extract misplaced vengeance upon them for the carefree life she was never afforded. The portraits she hangs around the house have been painted in the blood of her victims, crafted from brushes handmade from their bones and hair. With the sheriff racing against time to get to the commune and rescue her, Ellie must find the strength to fight back against her captors and escape.
