The kindergarten is perhaps the most important arena for ensuring language learning and integration in the local community. According to research, children with an immigrant background who get conscious language stimulation in kindergarten, have clear advantages in school context. But systematic language stimulation requires knowledge. In this film, we meet three children in three Norwegian kindergartens: Roweyda (4) is from Somalia and thrives Randvik kindergarten in Risør, especially when she gets to sing. Adam (5) is from Chechnya goes to Rømerverven kindergarten in Kragerø, where children are keen to learn more and to participate in a project on language stimulation. Merhawit (5), who goes to Øvre Slettheia kindergarten in Kristiansand, is a watchful and happy girl who speaks good Norwegian.
