Mata Ortiz is a pottery town founded by workers hidden in the Chihuahuan desert. A town that is going through a period of decline ignored by its inhabitants that threatens to extinguish its pottery and the community itself. Diego Valles, one of the most important potters of the town, has noticed this possible tragic future and has undertaken a struggle to change the destiny of his people, seeking the development of the town through education: a school, museum or energy sustainability are some of his projects to provide different tools for the people to compete in a global market increasingly diverse and competitive. But the community refuses to surrender to the uncertainty of new possibilities, because they ignore that the situation of their survival is at its most critical point, they prefer to sustain their economy in models of the past that were used successfully by the mythical potters of their history. Given this position, Diego will use all his energy to help a community that rejects him with each new effort. But his resilience and unconditional love for the place that saw him grow, will keep him going, even if it leads him to the tragedy he is fighting against.
