A Love Supreme tells the story of a man creatively talented, academically driven and spiritually motivated. The film traces the complex career of Father Michael Wells aka 'Spike' Wells, parish priest who is also a renowned jazz drummer. 'Spike' Wells achieved early success as a drummer during the 1960's and 70's, touring with musicians such as Ronnie Scott, Stan Getz and Roland Kirk. The pressures of constant touring and financial insecurity led him to become a lawyer, and music took second place for the next two decades. In his mid 40's, a religious conversion led to Spike's ordination as a priest and he now combines his religious work with jazz gigs.
