Written by award winning writer and filmmaker, Claudia C. Adams, and directed/filmed by award winning cinematographer, Aziz Ahmed, whose works include BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera, covering the Daniel Pearl murder, interviewing President Musharraf, covering the 2nd Gulf War, and Benazir Bhutto, LIKE NO OTHER is haunting in its tragic beauty. Farhan Alam, whose movie SAAWAN, was Pakistan's entry into the Foreign Language category of the 90th Oscars, is the third person on the team. Caused by a combination of global warming and climate change, the 2010 Pakistan floods were the worst natural disaster in Pakistan's history. Created by "cascading" and "compounding" events, its impact highlights the need to study and track connections between natural disasters as well as address the issue of climate refugees. According to UN forecasts, by 2050 there will be between 25 million and 1 billion environmental migrants. Using never before seen footage, LIKE NO OTHER confronts the crisis, addressing the concerns of all humanity by giving a face to the faceless, a voice to the voiceless. These survivors, often referred to as "climate refugees," are not recognized as refugees by the 1951 Refugees Convention, leaving an enormous gap in international law. LIKE NO OTHER calls on the world to address the increasing impacts of climate change on displacement, migration, conflict, human insecurity and the future of our planet.
