Michael Lassiter Jr., known also as Sensei MJ, is an American martial artist, fight choreographer, screenwriter and action/film director. For years, Michael would train in various martial arts including but not limited to Muay Thai, developing an extensive martial arts lineage which allowed him training from 4th generation Wing Chun, 4th Generation Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (formerly known as Ninjutsu), and some training in 2nd generation Kenpo Karate (Ed Parker lineage). Michael (Sensei MJ) has had over 18 years of experience training in martial arts, now 11 years in teaching as a private instructor, fight choreographer, and martial arts trainer. He once was able to converse and gain film related advice from Jeff Imada (Fight Coordinator for Furious 7). Sensei MJ was beyond elated at meeting the one and only Jeff Imada as he had been a longtime fan of his action work in Bourne Ultimatum and as an overall 30+ year stunt veteran. Always focused on "safety first", Sensei MJ also trains actors. In his trademarked 'Fight 4 Film' TM workshops, held less than 3 times a year, he teaches participants the foundations and dynamics of action scenes in film and television productions. Students who have completed his workshops have launched further into their careers, being able to obtain various credits such as Marvel and TNT productions, as well as key roles in independent feature films. Sensei MJ desires to continue in his contribution to preparing actors and actresses for actions roles on the big screen yet whilst also maintain the emphasis of safety and humility on set in the film industry. In 2019, Sensei MJ was inducted at the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Honors and received the Who's Who Legend in the Martial Arts Award. He was also inducted in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2021 and he continues to present the entertaining blend of realistic martial arts, safety, entertainment and dynamic angles for film and tv.
