Junior Lee Ashwood born on July 26, 1969, in Detroit, MI. Born the youngest in his family, his family moved to the west side of Detroit. As the youngest in his family Junior spent time with his mother and watched films. He attended Frank Cody High School and graduating in the 1988 class. After graduating from Cody High he joined the United States Navy and entered Boot Camp in Great Lakes, Ill on his birthday, that why he always say, "I was born to be in the Navy". His Naval career consist of numerous duty stations: 1988-1992 he was stationed on the USS Platte AO-186 where he earned the rank of Second Class Petty Officer (E-5), 1992-1995 he was stationed at the Coastal System Station Panama City, Fl. Next in 1995 he was transferred to NAVCHAPGRU in Williamsburg Va where he was promoted to the rank of First Class Petty Officer (E-6), 2001 found him stationed onboard the USS Oak Hill LSD-51 where he obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7), 2004 Chief Ashwood went back to serve at NAVCHAPGRU in Williamsburg Va, after a successful tour in 2007 he journeyed onto the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis MD, he also meet his bride Phyllis Ashwood while on a trip to Atlanta GA. In 2010 he took orders in Yokosuka, Japan to the USS McCampbell DDG 85 where he picked up the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8), next he made his way back to his known stomping ground of Virginia and took orders to the USS Bataan LHD-5 where he picked up the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9), the highest rank obtainable in the enlisted ranks. After 30 years of honorable and faithful services Junior has taken on the challenge of film making. He established his film company ID4 Nation (2004) to produces his films. His first film Never Too Late (2005) was premiered in Hampton VA, a urban christian drama about a young man finding himself in the world of street drug trade and the love he has for his christian girlfriend who is torn between her love for him and his danger in the streets. First Coast Affair (2023) comes after a long pause in his film making career due to his Naval duties. Through his production company ID4 Nation, Junior continues to create and direct independent films, as well as working on story development, creating an internship program for aspiring filmmakers, and community outreach and support. He is married to Phyllis D. Ashwood, and they have five children and 12 grandchildren; Children: Rene, Lamarr, Troi, Chassity and Stephanna. Grandchildren: Rosie, Rene jr, Layla, Noah, Charlie, Allison, Baylen, Luca, Drew, Dawson, Rome and London.
