Jamar Shaw is an American actor, poet, and physician whose journey weaves together compassion and creativity. Born in Patterson, New Jersey, to Jamaican parents and raised in the vibrant city of Orlando, Florida, Shaw's name is a blend of "Lamar" (water) and "Jamal" (sparks/fire), encapsulating the essence of his character. A Harvard-trained physician specializing in pharmacoepidemiology, Shaw's medical career is a testament to his dedication and precision. His accolades include being a Grand Slam Champion, a Final Stage poet at the World Poetry Slam, and holding the title of 8th ranked slam poet in the world for 2019. Relocating to Atlanta, Shaw rekindled his original passion for acting, immersing himself in the craft through classes at the award-winning Alliance Theater and intensive scene study courses with Acts of Freedom. Here, his commitment to acting flourished, blending his diverse talents to inspire and impact those around him.
