Maverick Arawn Bolen was born in the suburbs of Detroit, and early on as a child, he found a love for photography. Inspired by the works of Ansel Adams, Michael Kenna, Sebastião Salgado, Nadav Kander, and others, Maverick got his first camera and focused on landscape and architectural photography mainly as a means to remember places he had been or traveled. When others saw some of his work, they encouraged him to enter photo contests. Maverick began to place in various contests, eventually achieving "Best in Age Class" and "Best in Show", which lead to offers of being published. Maverick enlisted in the US Army to serve during the Desert Storm, Bosnia, Somalia, and Haiti campaigns. This didn't prevent him though from still taking photos. During his service, Maverick sustained an injury which brought his service to an end, but he moved to Kansas City and continued his passion by expanding his portfolio to include fashion photography, weddings, family portraits, and more, which lead to him to achieving the status and recognition as a Master Photographer. Maverick attained several college degrees from National American University, Keller Granduate School of Management, Andersen University and more. The focus of his studies were Web Design, Computer Network and Security Administration, Programming, Project Management, and Philosophy. During this time, Maverick founded Poised Imagery Media Production Company and Bolen Consulting. While in college, Maverick was approached about reenacting in the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, which started him into acting as well as continuing his photography career. He also became the photographer and photojournalist for an International Restaurant chain and began doing short video promotions. It was at this time Maverick met Richard Buswell, writer/director/actor/stunt choreographer, who brought Maverick on as an actor on some projects. After Richard and Maverick had worked together for a while, Richard asked Maverick to be the Director of Photography for the Order 86 project, which Maverick accepted. Maverick began studying various other cinematographers and considers Dean Cundey and Douglas Milsome his inspirations, and director inspirations such as David Fincher, Quintn Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick and more. Afterwards, Maverick began to take his hand at writing and directing as well, being given the chance to assistant direct for Jason Turner. His first script, Released, which he shot, directed, and ran sound for, won "Most Unique Horror Film Short" at Shockfest Film Festival in 2019, its first submission. Over time, Maverick has worked with various directors such as Richard Buswell, Jason Turner, Chazz DeMoss, Alden Miller, Brian Boye, and Maia Ades as a Cinematographer and Producer, and in set design and the sound department, and acting talent such as Bill "Leatherface" Johnson, Jeff Vaughn, Allen Kayser, and Richie Ramone of the Ramones on various projects. Maverick also did the video and audio for the interview with Allan Kayser for the special edition 2 disc Blu-ray edition of "Night of the Creeps", released on June 29, 2019 Maverick is a member of the IFCKC, KCWIFT, PPAGKC, Master Photographer with the IFPO, the KC Film Society, KC Video Core and more. In 2019, Maverick was elected as a board member of the IFCKC and is currently serving as such.
