Charismatically chubby character actor Taidge Mathieu 'works it' for laughs and tears. Mathieu is the latest teddy bear in the legacy of stars without abs: Jack Black, Zach Galifianakis, Jonah Hill, James Corden, and Chris Farley are Taidge's idols and inspirational touchstones. As a member of the "Imaginary Friends" Improv trio, Taidge is willing to go out on that far limb for scripted comedy or drama. Taidge is a natural in comedic roles. "I'm situational-ly funny." He is equally adept at drama and dramedy, especially suited to the 'weird stuff.' "Supernatural was my favorite show!" A big fan of B-movies from the '80's, Taidge's dream is to play a local deputy slogging through slime in Stranger Things. Being a self-described "massive nerd," Taidge digs deep to the edges of 'everyday' characters. Mathieu's the uber-geek, gamer, the guy living in his parent's basement, the pizza guy abducted by aliens, the 'nice' Starbucks associate who finally snaps, the 'innocent' high-school serial killer. Self effacing, unapologetically stoked, Taidge is cheerful, even cherubic when shaved and often mistaken for a kid. "I'm 10 without the stubble." Taidge is prepped to bring the full range of crazy and bring his loose cannon funny to the party. "I know who I am; I'm not a leading man." His dark humor is his own blend of special, and typical to Boston-adjacent Gloucester, Mass. "Comedy is all about timing. I spent a lot of time listening to comedians Dane Cook, Louis CK, and Bill Burr. My comedy is a dark mix between Jack Black and Charlie Day." Forged In the candor of the comedy arena, Taidge embraces his body. "I'm fit-fat, or approachably chubby." This is Mathieu's magic. In a world of lean and mean leading men, his fresh face, open smile, accents, and love handles wrangle Taidge that sweet spot of scene-stealing character roles. He's the fake psychic, the irate 'Sox fan, the geeky scientist, and the unexpected superhero. A real-life comic book artist, Taidge's nerd creds are solid. Mathieu's B.A. from AMDA, and work with top film stage, combat and voice coaches prepped him for leads in films "The Journal" and "Gun Street Girl, Creek of Eden." his solid theater work as Rosencrantz in "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead", the Colonel in "Caucasian Chalk Circle" and all five non-singing roles in "Little Shop of Horrors", demonstrate that Taidge takes his craft seriously; directors can rely on him to deliver. Taidge is especially keen to develop his voiceover career, and has a menagerie of characters to wow directors with his eye on Funamation. Taidge's newest project is a self-styled YouTube show for his fellow game-obsessed nerds of the world. On his show, Taidge reviews the best new games and clues gamers on how to win. This will showcase his voiceover talents, his character artistry and snag him some cool games as well. Mathieu's dream role is Marvel's oldest superhero: "Powers of Shazam," where of course, the ordinary kid takes on powers most noble. Expect no less from this super nerd.
