Neal Shaw Blaisdell was a native of Honolulu, Hawaii who served as Republican mayor of that city from 1955 to 1969. Of both European and Hawaiian descent, as chief executive of the city and county of Honolulu, Blaisdell oversaw a period of great growth and change during the first decade of Hawaiian statehood.
