Tyrone Ngatai is a New Zealand Maori actor, currently living in Melbourne, Australia. Before stepping in front of the camera ,Tyrone dabbled in the professional wrestling scene in Adelaide, Australia. An avid wrestling enthusiast and life long fan of his idol Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Tyrone had a taste of the pro wrestling life at age 22. Shortly after his stint in the business, Tyrone transitioned his passion for story telling and entertaining a crowd to pursuing an acting career. He is currently working with acting coach Anthony Gilardi from Los Angeles. Tyrone has also studied under renown Australian Casting director Greg Aps in his Self-taping school at The Audition Technique in 2018. Tyrone continues to attend classes at Melbourne's TAFTA Studios with acting coach/mentor Cam Faull. Though the expected route for most young men growing up in New Zealand is to pursue a career in Rugby with the dream of becoming an All Black, Tyrone was a dedicated basketball player and represented his city at multiple age group levels. After High school Tyrone studied Hotel Management and graduated with an advanced diploma in 2014. He then moved to central Australian to work in hotels there. After two years Tyrone switched careers and got involved with youth support work - particularly with indigenous youth. This carried on into the disability sector with both youth and adults. Tyrone then moved to Melbourne Australia in 2019 to pursue acting in a larger market but also continues his work as a disability support worker.
