A long-standing international film industry expert, having worked in film press and media for over twenty years, James Mudge is the CEO of The Next Day, a production and sales company working between the UK, Europe and Chinese language speaking countries. The director of the horror film Fifty Six, in post-production, James has served as a consultant on a number of Chinese productions, including Zhou Hao's award-winning documentary Emergency Room China, and is a producer on The Vanishing Time, the highly-anticipated debut feature from London-based Hong Kong director Shan Ng. James also has in development several projects including the 2019 Chinese-alcohol documentary Ganbei! and the horror films Reverence and The Night Guard. As well as writing for a number of publications and websites on Chinese film, James gives lectures at academic institutions, and is regularly interviewed by global media outlets including CCTV, The Guardian, and others. James is also the Festival Director of Chinese Visual Festival, a key cultural event based in London founded in 2010, which screens Chinese language cinema, working with directors such as Jia Zhangke, Zhou Hao, Pema Tseden and others and with a variety of film festivals and organisations in China.
