Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Russell Reed is an African-American filmmaker, writer, and cinematographer whose vision is to bring messages to humanity that provide an opportunity for growth and unity. From big-concept worlds that emerge us into the unthinkable, to practical and grounded realities that provide context and conviction. Reed's ability to personalize his stories has earned him recognition from industry professionals. Reed's most notable work includes two short films - Baby Nick (2019), My Soul to Keep (2022) - and a crime-thriller feature film (Hierarchy 2023). He is most known for his award-winning short film, Baby Nick (2019) that received a finalist award, several film festival selections across the nation, film riot contest winner, and was featured on Revolt's annual Short and Fresh release on cable TV in 2019. Reed has also directed and produced a crime, thriller feature film (Hierarchy 2023). He has also camera operated behind the scenes for HBO's Entres Nos comedy special in 2020.
