Jermaine Nelson (March 16, 1985), a Jamaican actor who prefers to be called ZBEK, has his humble beginnings in May Pen, Clarendon. His interest in the performing arts was piqued during his tenure at high school where he actively participated and excelled in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's (JCDC) Speech and Drama Festival. In order to hone his nascent acting skills, ZBEK participated in workshops and was also coached by talent actor/writer Dr. Dwight Weir, who taught him to focus on method acting, naturalism and realism. ZBEK's passion steered him to pursue courses at the Centrestage Theatre where he gained a wealth of knowledge and experiences, and leaned the dynamics of the art form. His hallmark, which he has honed over the years, is his natural yet believable facial expressions. While ZBEK works in the entertainment industry, he engages in writing and directing, and commits his most precious commodity, his time, to teaching drama to elementary students. ZBEK, a multifaceted actor, has the title Project Manager and Phlebotomist under his belt. ZBEK's most famous, intriguing roles include flight. He has slept rough - abandoned cars, on the floor in the homes of strangers and the most reliable and comforting chill spot, Half Way Tree park. ZBEK panhandled to provide his daily bread and the funds needed to get to auditions. Over time, the seeds planted are finally bearing fruits. ZBEK maintains a positive demeanor, negating words like 'quit', 'lose' and 'can't' from his mental lexicon. He lives by his own philosophy: 'The sky is no limit to what I can achieve because my achievements have no limits'. ZBEK is a force to be reckoned with and promises to become the face of Jamaican acting.
