Formally a member of the now defunct political Hip Hop group Sons of the Tongue, Cee-Won X is a political rapper, singer, actor, guitarist, producer, dancer, and activist from Houston, Texas. Cee comes from a family of music, with his father and uncle being professional musicians, and his grandfather being Bucky Meadows, best known for playing guitar in Willie Nelson's band, Family (Credited on Willie's 1975 release, Red Headed Stranger). In the 1990s, he would spend some time traveling with his father's band, which would become a defining moment in his life. Before becoming a recording artist, Cee was a Hip Hop dancer. However, he felt he could achieve more as a musician, and released a series of mixtapes as a political rapper in 2013. Cee-Won X is a powerful singer, who strives to separate himself from other rappers with his rock-influenced harmonies. When writing songs, he focuses on having a message that others can learn from, and tries to approach everything from a place of truth. Influences in his early work include acts such as Rage Against the Machine and The Native Tongues Posse. In his recent music, he has been drawing inspiration from the harmonies of classic bands such as The Beach Boys. With the help of Zachary Garren (Guitarist in Dance Gavin Dance from 2007-2010 and current guitarist of Strawberry Girls) his mixtape, "The Excursion II: A Poet In the Land of Cruel Intentions", was released in 2015. Mechanicaldummy.com praised it as "reminiscent of the golden era," and "a 90s hip-hop sound with smooth vibes throughout." Hiphopgoldenage.com described Cee as "an excellent emcee who perfectly succeeds in capturing the true essence of hip-hop." Throughout the years, Cee-Won X has performed at various locations in the United States, such as Austin and Washington, DC. He can be heard performing in Houston, notably joining the stage with American instrumental progressive math-rock trio Strawberry Girls during their Houston tour date on June 11, 2017. His single, "Arrest the President" was released on inauguration day in 2017 in protest of the elected president. He released his solo EP "Silence" on February 23, 2018.
