Lavon Phillips was born on March 27, 1990, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Phillips' passion as a filmmaker derived from his involvement with a local youth outreach organization in the inner city of Milwaukee called Urban Underground. Being apart of this organization awarded him the opportunity to learn the basics of camera operating and the opportunity to visit colleges in Atlanta, Georgia. One of the colleges that he visited was Clark Atlanta University. After visiting CAU he made up his mind that this is where he wanted to attend college. After graduating high school in Milwuakee Phillips moved to Atlanta with dreams of fulfilling his passion for film making. He studied a year at The Art Institute of Atlanta and then finished up his undergrad at Clark Atlanta University majoring in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Film. At Clark Atlanta Phillips made a short film called Modern-Day Lynch (2018), a drama about the killings of young unarmed black college graduate. This short film won Best Picture at Campus Movie Fest. After college Phillips continued his love for film making by gaining experience on film sets as a production assistant. He has worked on a variety of television and film productions as a PA gaining an immense amount of knowledge about everyone's role in production. Phillips continues to work hard to fulfill his dreams especially with the re-branding of the production company, PhilCinema, a company that he started in college. Through his production company he has high hopes of creating projects that continue to inspire, entertain, and cultivate an appreciation for the diversity. He is married to his Brianna Phillips since July 22, 2017.
