Joanna Guevara was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. She is a second year MFA candidate in the Arts Entrepreneurship and Management program at ASU. She received her undergraduate degree from Eureka College, obtaining a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and minor in Economics. She is also the co-founder of DogEar Theater. Joanna has also worked in theatre from the age of 12, when she performed the role of Mrs. Mayor in Christian Youth Theatre / Rockford Metro's production of Suessical, The Musical. Since the summer of 2016, Joanna has been developing a theatre program for a small nonprofit, Gabriel's Promise, in Carrefour, Haiti. This program aims to empower the local students in the neighborhood of the nonprofit to use art as a means to share their story and promote social change within their community.
