Katya Shubova

Katya Shubova grew up in Odessa, Ukraine. At age five she enrolled in a dance school to study classical and folk dance and at age seven in artistic (rhythmic) gymnastics which led to her becoming a competitive athlete well into her young adulthood. This experience marked the beginning of her fascination with the human body, which is what drew her into the field of Physical Therapy. When she relocated to New York, she majored in physical therapy at Stony Brook, SUNY and has been a physical therapist for over twenty five years working with clients from birth through advanced adulthood. Besides her professional expertise, she has always kept her artistic and creative side active and has never stopped dancing and choreographing. She travels around the world to participate in international tango festivals to feed her passion for dance. Along the way, she expanded her creative flow onto other disciplines such as Acting, Photography, and Fine Arts. She has studied Improv Comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB NY), and has collaborated in several publications with Mark Blickley who wrote literary texts to her photography.
