Emilie Badenhorst

Badenhorst is a conscious writer, creator and director of film and commercial with an intuitive understanding of the subtlety and honesty required of performance and storytelling. The UCT Theatre and Performance graduate's experimental short Unsex Me which she wrote and directed, featured in Nakid_Magazine & Metal Magazine. Internationally she has worked with artists such as Romeo Elvis, Lolo Zouai, 6lack and Khalid. Her latest music video Desert Rose screened in Times Square and Sable Square in the US, and was shortlisted at Berlin Commercial for Best Casting, Cinematography, Direction and Best Music Video 2020. She was also recently nominated as one of the top 5 new female directors to watch in South Africa by the advertising and creative showcase 10 & 5. Emilie's short film ekstasis has recently been nominated at various festivals around the world. She consequently won Best Direction at New Renaissance Film Festival (NL) 2021 as well as a Silver at the 2021 Cannes Young Director's Awards for her Direction. Ultimately, Emilie wants to continue creating empowering work that explores intimacy and the messiness of our human connection.
