Marco Russ

Marco Russ is a center-back from Germany. He began his senior playing career at his boyhood club where he used to be a ball-boy, Eintracht Frankfurt, making his debut in a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich. After Eintracht Frankfurt's relegation in 2011 Russ moved to Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg where he played for 2 seasons before moving back to Eintracht Frankfurt - initially on loan and then on a permanent deal in 2013. In 2016 Marco discovered he had testicular cancer after a random drugs test showed an unusual level of hormone activity. After undergoing chemotherapy, Russ made an emotional return to the team less than a year after he was diagnosed. It was at Frankfurt where he was part of the team that won the 2017/18 DFB Pokal - the German cup final.
