Mitch Bechtold

Mitch Bechtold is a Writer and 1stAD born in Germany and raised in rural Maryland. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he specialized in Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness. Following his service, he received a degree in Mandarin Chinese from UCLA, went on to develop 'Spectacles' hardware at Snapchat, and finally determined that what he really wanted from life was to tell stories. As a writer, Mitch's portfolio focuses on TV dramas with expansive worlds and grounded characters. His TV pilot, "Red Noir," a 1-hour Sci-fi / Western, recently placed in the top 100 at the 2021 Austin Film Festival, and his 1-hour dramedy, "Hurry Up and Wait," notably led to his acceptance into the 2020 Writers Guild Foundation (WGF) Veterans Writing Fellowship. While receiving positive criticism for his drama and thrillers. His stories have a unique blend of emotionally engaging characters from diverse backgrounds who, despite their unfortunate situations, always manage to maintain a thread of positivity. The worlds he crafts feels fresh, unique, and are begging to be explored more.
